Mikki Cichocki for CTA Secretary-Treasurer

California public education is under attack and the next generation of CTA leadership will determine the future of our union. In fact, the next generation of leaders will help determine the fate of public education. Therefore, it is absolutely critical for CTA to elect leaders who are committed to the values of unionism, grassroots organizing and intensive member engagement.

CTA must continue protecting public education for all. We must also continue speaking on behalf of the children of California who have no voice, yet represent our future. And the future of CTA rests upon our ability to remain fiscally sound and our ability to activate and increase our membership. CTA must remain strong.

This is why I want your vote for Secretary-Treasurer. I have the experience, leadership skills and energy to move CTA forward.

From becoming a site rep for the San Bernardino Teachers Association during my first year of teaching to being elected to the CTA Board of Directors, I have proven my commitment to our union by engaging and connecting to the rank and file membership. My experience in building relationships as an individual and for the organization makes me the perfect fit for CTA Secretary-Treasurer.

After actively listening to our membership, I fought to bring childcare to State Council to allow members with families to fully participate in the representative process. As part of the San Bernardino County Coalition, I helped craft Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) language that was adopted by chapters across the state. I also worked to bring programs such as Survive and Thrive, I Can Do It, and Verbal Judo to our members. I am the current chair of the CTA Board Agency Review Committee, which monitors numerous state bodies and commissions utilizing member liaisons. Under my leadership, changes to the liaison program such as training and networking opportunities have ensured that CTA members' views, agendas and positions are effectively and powerfully promoted across the state of California.

As a leader, I have always done what is right for the members I represent and will continue to do so as Secretary-Treasurer. I will continue to actively listen to diverse voices in order to create a stronger and more effective organization. I will continue ensuring that every member has access to all levels of our organization and provide ongoing opportunities for members to grow into CTA leadership positions. My commitment to intensive member engagement is unwavering because I believe we need to grow the next generation of CTA leadership.

Public education is at a crossroads and it is time to move forward in advocacy for all. Now is the time for a leader with the drive and energy to navigate us through the challenges and opportunities before us. Together we can protect public education. As CTA Secretary-Treasurer, I will ensure that CTA is fiscally sound and I will continue fighting for the rights of our members. I will work to protect and enhance funding for public education and I will champion CTA as the driving force for a quality education for every student.

I ask for your vote for CTA Secretary-Treasurer. ~ Mikki Cichocki
